Application Documents
I.To apply for undergraduate programs
1.A senior high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
2.To apply for science programs, applicants should get HSK4 equal to or greater than 180; To apply for liberal arts programs, applicants should get HSK5 equal to or greater than 210 because all the undergraduates are taught in Chinese.
3. Non-criminal records.
4. Below the age of 30.

II. To apply for master’s programs
1. A bachelor’s degree is required.
2. To apply for science programs, applicants should get HSK4 equal to or greater than 180; To apply for liberal arts programs, applicants should get HSK5 equal to or greater than 210 because all the undergraduates are taught in Chinese.
a. To apply for programs taught in English, applicants from non-English-speaking countries or regions should provide a TOEFL transcript with the score equal to or greater than 70 or an IELTS one with the score equal to or greater than 5.5.
3. If having received education in English-speaking countries or regions, applicants should provide the English-teaching certificate(s) or clarification for the latest educational experience.
4. Non-criminal records.
5. Below the age of 35.
6. Good health.
III. To apply for PhD programs
1. A master’s degree is required.
2. To apply for science programs, applicants should get HSK4 equal to or greater than 180; To apply for liberal arts programs, applicants should get HSK5 equal to or greater than 210 if the program is taught in Chinese.
3. To apply for programs taught in English, applicants from non-English-speaking countries or regions should provide a TOEFL transcript with the score equal to or greater than 70 or an IELTS one with the score equal to or greater than 5.5.

Scholarships
Early distinguished applicants have more opportunities to be offered the scholarships.
1. Guangdong Ocean University Outstanding New Students Scholarship
Each year, 10 bachelor students, 15 master students and 10 PhD students will be awarded with this scholarship, which covers full tuition and accommodation fee within the prescribed studying period. The tuition provided are detailed as follows: Bachelor students will be provided with RMB ¥18,000.00-20,000.00 (All Liberal Arts Programs are RMB ¥18,000.00/year/person, and all Science Programs are RMB ¥20,000.00/year/person.); Master students will be provided with RMB ¥20,000.00-22,000.00 (All Liberal Arts Programs are RMB ¥20,000.00/year/person, and all Science Programs are RMB ¥22,000.00/year/person.); PhD students will be provided with RMB ¥31,500.00/year/person. The scholarship also covers RMB ¥1,000.00/month/person for master students and RMB ¥2,000.00/month/person for PhD students as living allowance. Accommodation fee is also included in this scholarship that provides RMB ¥6,000.00/year/person.
2. Provincial-level New Students Scholarship
Apart from Guangdong Ocean University Outstanding New Students Scholarship, most of the distinguished students also have more opportunities to get this type of scholarship, which grants bachelor students RMB ¥10,000.00, master students RMB ¥20,000.00, and PhD students RMB ¥30,000.00.

2. Deadlines for Applications
Application for spring term should be prior to November 20, and application for fall term should be prior to May 10.
Fees
If students are not offered scholarship(s), tuition and dorm fees should be paid when registering on arrival at GDOU.
Other fees include books, insurance, transportation, medical checks, resident permit visa in China, wi-fi fee, room deposit, dorm electricity, life expenses, etc. Some fees can be referred as follows:
1. Insurance: approximately RMB ¥800.00/year/person
2. Medical checks: RMB ¥415.00/person
3. Resident permit visa: RMB ¥400.00 for less than 1 year, RMB ¥800.00 for 1-3 years, and RMB ¥1,000 for more than 3 years
4. Wi-Fi fee: RMB ¥30.00/month
5. Room deposit: RMB ¥100.00 (It will be returned if the room is not deliberately damaged when you are leaving)
